May 3rd 2009...only a few days away!
Well we’re at it again! We
are coming off a fantastic 2008, where we successfully raised over $7,500 dollars for the Autism Society of Greater Cincinnati.
This will be our third year partaking in the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon to raise awareness and money for this great
cause.
We have rallied together both walkers and runners to participate in both the Half and Full Marathon for 2009. Once again we will be sporting our bright orange T-shirts raising awareness, all because we love someone with autism.
Who are we? We are a local family from Fairfield, Ohio and have been affected by Autism. We have seen first hand the challenges a family faces once diagnosed. So we have gathered together as family and friends to take a stand. We hope you take this opportunity to join us in making a difference.
Why are we doing this? We know we are not the only family affected. Everyday more and more families are being affected by this challenging condition. Our local Chapter, the Autism Society of Greater Cincinnati is an excellent organization that can help those in need.
We sincerely thank our returning participants and donors for
2009. We are excited as May 3, 2009 approaches. The energy is rising as so many people
are training, talking, and getting ready for the event. Together we will make a difference - thanks for making
this event possible!
2008 --WOW!!
What a great day Sunday May 4, 2008 turned out to be.
Participants and spectators were basking in wonderful weather and enjoying a tremendous
event put on by the Flying Pig Marathon! Our orange Autism shirts seemed to be a huge hit.
It seemed like every few minutes, we saw runners and walkers going by in the shirts.
As a spectator, I heard numerous comments, such as…”way
to go Autism Awareness”…”thanks for your support”…”keep up the good work”.
Talking with one of our participants, she said there were numerous people that saw the front of her shirt which read,
“Flying Pig, Why do it?” She was happy to show them the answer by turning
around and showing the back of the shirt…”It’s all because I love someone with Autism”
What a great event to bring awareness and have an opportunity to talk to someone about it as you were walking or running!
